Shadows of Me

Shadows of Me

Aug Detail

Aug Detail

Today is a good day,  I finished a quilt.  This is the first thing I have finished since January.    John helped me  hang it in the living room and I snapped this pic, and then opened a bottle of wine (at 1pm…go figure).   I am hoping to get better pics soon and then get this on the website.

The piece is whole cloth dye painted and includes some brush painting and water color techniques.

It sure feels great to do some fiber art, after a very depressing year with shoulder issues.

I need a name now.   I have one I am toying with (don’t want to list it here yet) but tell me your suggestions and how it makes you feel.

I am very impressed, my entry into the naming pool is “Posture Pedic Stretch”. Love and miss you guys. Last time our paths crossed was at the Cycle for Hope event, when I left you with the bum mic. What do you think of the new remodel. I went into the spin room on Friday…. I am still having motion sickness. Dim the room please.

Well keep me informed on all of your artistic endeavors. I find bypolarism to be very exciting!

    Kiss and tell,

    Jan

How about “Shoulder Pain” or “Finally Escaping” or “Out of Here” or “Nowhere to Go”

I’d like to see a better picture – or even better, see the quilt in person.

Glad you finished it – and I’m sure it feels good to be working at something you love so much!

How about Emergence or Emerging (it kind of reminds me of man rising from the primordial ooze). Sure hope this shoulder thing gets behind you.

How about “Emergence” or “Emerging”. It kind of makes me think of man rising from the primordial ooze.

CONGRATS!!!!! I love it! My name suggestion is “Struggling to Conform”. I view it as the figures trying to reach that oh so elusive standard of perceived perfection but are still restricted by the boundaries around them, never quite satisfied within themselves.

I’m not good at this stuff but here’s my attempt:

It looks like the man is growing or stretching with what appears to be some pain. My small mind goes to “Growing Pains” or “Reaching”.

How about this: “Let me out of the *^(&% bathroom you damn *^*(^%(”.
inspired by a recent trip abroad….

How about “Doc, it hurts when I do this.”, or “Ow! My shoulder!!!” Just kidding. Are those men/bodies on the bottom? “Don’t tread on me!”, wait, that’s been taken. Hmmmm. Bottoms reaching to be tops!

I’ll have to sleep on it. :)

    “Resurgence”

Something with “rising up” or “risen”; I also liked the “emergence” idea; it should have some kind of ebb and flow to it something that feels like, falling down and rising up. Do the numbers of men going down and the number of men going up signify anything? Do the poses signify something important?
I really like it! Thanks for sharing :)

Never stop reaching for the top
I too would love to see it in person.
Good job! Hope all is well

Hey Randy, I am clueless what to describe this piece, and obviously I am not an artist. I love it tho. Maybe a reflection of reaching the unreachable!
That’s a guess. I asked Rippi and he never came back with some hint either. I am glad you are doing well and still going to Houston in October.
Are you back working full time?
    hugssssssss

Fascinating piece. Glad to see you’re back in the game!

    My ideas:

    ‘NOT Rodney King’
    ‘Stop don’t shoot’
    ‘The ants go marching’
    ‘The 6′
    ‘Five against the tide’
    ‘Those who’ve gone before’

Five Against the Tide. I like it.
